Built entirely from wood, this surfboard is equal parts artwork and functional long board. The structure of the board is made from marine plywood ribs, with holes cut into them for weight reduction. This framework is skinned in 5mm of Cedar on both top and bottom with hand shaped cedar rails forming each side.

The top and bottom surfaces are adorned with intricate marquetry. The top in radially matched Walnut veneer and the bottom in radially matched Sycamore veneer. The bottom features the owner’s initials in sycamore, inlaid into a roundel of dyed Birds-eye Maple. The top side features a series of polka dots cut from dyed veneer which vary in size and colour.

This piece is equally as home hung upon the wall as it is cutting through the waves. A brass pressure relief valve prevents the cavity of the board from expanding or contracting when plunged into the cold sea. The whole board is protected and strengthened by a fiberglass skin with several coats of yacht varnish to bring it to a high gloss.

The resultant product is a beautiful long-board that will draw attention on the beach whilst not being significantly heavier than its foam counterpart.
